Rev. Adam Leathers

Greetings! For those of you I have not met, my name is Rev. Adam Leathers and I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve as the new pastor of Perry First United Methodist Church. My wife, Virginia, and I are in process of moving into your wonderful parsonage and I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you. A little about us…we hail from rural towns in Colorado. In 2004 I received my call to ministry and we moved to Kansas City, Missouri so I could attend Saint Paul School of Theology. While there I served as Associate Pastor at Grand Ave Temple United Methodist Church; a church family for homeless people. I graduated with my Master’s Degree of Divinity in 2008 and my wife got accepted to the University of Oklahoma for her graduate degree in Higher Education Administration. We moved to Wellston, Oklahoma where I served as pastor of their United Methodist Church for four years, during which time, Virginia began to work for Oklahoma State University in their Admissions department and still does so. In 2012 I was appointed as Senior Pastor of Penn Ave. Redemption United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City- this is a church family for prison inmates and their families. We would bus prison inmates in from the local community corrections center for worship and meals. The next year I was appointed as Executive Director of Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries of Oklahoma, Inc.; a United Methodist based 501c3 nonprofit agency dedicated to ministering to prison inmates and their families and in 2014 I was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church…and now we’re here! Virginia and I enjoy the outdoors, fitness, racquetball, and rock climbing. If we have not met, stop by the church sometime or give me a holler. My e-mail is adam.leathers@perryfumc.com and my cell phone number is (405) 240-3140.

Administrative Assistant: Debbie Bolay
One of my favorite verses is: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. ~
Proverbs 3:5-6
God blessed me with the most wonderful, amazing parents, Coy and Janet Harmon. They taught me that giving is a way of life, demonstrating daily! I remember Mom telling me to never wish for something of someone's unless I ended with and "I wish they had something bigger and better!" I grew up near Lucien, OK and attended the Lucien United Methodist Church where I was active in MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship) and church.                                                                                         Growing up, you could find me with my horse, swimming or hanging out with family and friends. I continue to enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I attended Perry Schools except for first grade which was at White School (a one room school house) and part of my Junior and my entire Senior year at Red Rock High School. I pursued a career as a nurse for many years attending Indian Meridian Vo-Tech and NOC.
I have three grown children who are amazing who married amazing people: my daughter Robyn and Brian; my sons: Bryan and Kendra, and Brandt and Patricia. I followed my kids in their many activities including wrestling, football, softball, baseball, basketball, stock showing.
My children gave me 11 beautiful grandchildren who I am extremely in love with and will tell you endless and numerous stories about if you will listen (from oldest to youngest): Austin, Bryce, Christopher, Emery, Tennalie, Nicholas, Alyssa, Connor, Maylie, Hazel, and Aisley. Their ages range from 19 to 1.
My hobbies include my grandchildren and their activities, photography, reading, sewing, working in my flower beds, collecting sewing items such as thimbles, pin cushions and my most prized possession, a seam ripper my wonderful father made for me (my mom helped me start my sewing collections) and other collections!
My job at the church is so enjoyable it is really not a job. God led me to this amazing place. I continue to attend Lucien UMC where I oversee the media and sound each Sunday. I thank God daily for the wonderful life I lead.                                                                                                           You may call me on the office phone, 580.336.2776 or email me at office@perryfumc.com or my personal email is debbie.bolay@perryfumc.com.

Receptionist: Darlene Roads

What a privilege to be able to work in my church! Thank you for allowing me to do so.

I was born in Noble County and have lived here my entire life except for eight years during my first marriage. My greatest accomplishments in life are my three wonderful children, Lori St.Clair, John and James Morrill. I thank God for them daily. (Side note: James told me he is going to retire in May, 2018 and I told him he couldn’t because I was too young!)

When I married Jack Roads 42 years ago, he brought me three more wonderful children, Judy, Wayne and Tracy Allen. I have a total of 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren - all wonderful. Jack and I had nearly 40 years together before he left to be with our Lord.

I thank God that my health is good and I am able to continue to do His work. Since I joined the First United Methodist Church in 2003, I have been involved in UMW on a local and district level and served many years as local Lay Leader. For a while I was a lay speaker. God laid it on my heart to start a Community Christmas dinner and 2018 will be the 10th anniversary of that project. Nothing I have done could be accomplished without the help of Our Lord and the wonderful people in this church. They are my family and I love each and every one dearly.

Thank you for accepting me and allowing me to be a part of this fantastic family of God.

Music Director, Pianist/Organist: Nancy Thomason

Hello! I’m Nancy Thomason and have served as organist here since 1997. About ten years ago we added the duties of music director to my position. I’ve been a member of Perry FUMC since 1974 when my husband, Bill, and I joined this church as newlyweds.  The Sunday after we joined, the pastor asked us to teach the high school Sunday School class! This church has been an important part of our lives ever since, raising our sons and participating in all ministries of the church. I led a Cherub Choir for small children in those early years, and later led/accompanied our Junior Choir for about ten years.

Music and the Methodist church have been a part of my life since I was born. I grew up in Altus, OK, active in First UMC there, singing hymns each Sunday morning and evening with my dad, who was choir director, leading, (and hoping my little brother wouldn’t shout out a page number again) singing in the church choir as a teenager, substituting for our organist, who was my piano teacher, and, in general, being there “every time the doors were open,” as I have always described my growing up years. I guess it’s no wonder that hymns and sacred music, and how they express our deepest emotions, beliefs, and understanding of God, have always been important to me. I graduated from OSU with a Bachelors degree in mathematics, married Bill that summer, and taught all secondary math at Red Rock, OK.  Bill is a farmer/rancher, and we have four sons. They are all married, spread all over the world, and have given us the five most wonderful grandchildren in the world! After my sons were almost grown, I returned to OSU and earned a Masters degree in Community Counseling.  I became a licensed counselor and worked in non-profit mental health agencies in Enid, with children in therapeutic foster care, and Ponca City, with adults, for about eleven years before retiring.

Now my favorite activities are spending time with family and friends, painting, traveling, hiking in beautiful places, and sewing ruffled, lacy dresses for my granddaughters, as well as making music! I love what I do in this “job” so much that I don’t think it should be called a job! There is a place for everyone in our music program here at Perry FUMC! I love this congregation and am grateful for the love and support I’ve always received.

Younger Persons Ministries Director: Paige Schwandt

I was born in Stillwater, OK and raised in Perry, OK almost her entire life, I reside in Perry with my family of four, my husband, Nathan Schwandt, our two girls, Blakely 5, Kenzley 3, and of course our 3 dogs, Paisley, Sissy, and Sue. I have been a member of the Perry United Methodist Church for 27 years.
I attended Perry Schools and went on to Northern Oklahoma College for 2 years and devoted my time there as a NOC Maverick Cheerleader and student.
I currently have a full time job as a home daycare provider and work passionately as the children’s and youth ministries director for Perry First United Methodist Church. This passion started for me, when I was personally struggling with the lack of children’s ministries targeting the smaller children of our community. I wanted my own two children to have a church where they could thrive in learning about Jesus and enjoy doing so. It just so happened that as I asked to join the children’s council committee of the Perry First United Methodist Church, they misunderstood and made me the chairman of the council. One year later I along with many others with in the church have brought in new members with young children and accomplished so many activities and exciting things for the young children of our church. I realized this was a passion of mine and when the church was in need of a new youth director I gladly accepted the position to help our young adults/younger persons thrive in learning about Jesus, and to bring exciting activities and new young people to our church family .
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, decorating, planning activities/events, and talking!

Hello,
My name is Lori St. Clair. I have lived in Perry most of my life. I am married to my best friend Kraig St. Clair, who was also born and raised here in Perry. Together we have 4 children: Jason, Tysea, Jeremy and Stephanie and 9 grandchildren.
Kraig and I have been members here at the First United Methodist Church for approximately 10 years. We absolutely love our church family.
I have been very lucky in being chosen to be the nursery coordinator. I love being able to work and play with the children  from infants to 5 years old. They are so precious to watch grow. On any given Sunday we are blessed with anywhere from 2 to 9 children that we have a beautiful time with. Thank you for letting me and the other nursery attendants watch your children grow.
